Prosthetics in Motion
Losing a limb is a catastrophic event, but it doesn’t have to mean the loss of a rewarding and full life. At Prosthetics in Motion, we believe that through our in-depth understanding of the art and science behind prosthetic fabrication, as well as our patient-centered business philosophy, we can offer those in the amputee community the best chance of enjoying an active and pain-free life.

A New Fit for a Better Life
One of our many success stories (please see our ad this page) involves a gentleman in his mid 50s. He came to us after eight years with another prosthetics provider. He had been unsatisfied with his previous experience primarily due to the fit of his device, which prevented him from pursuing his love of the martial arts. He had interviewed six other companies before coming to us.
We spent more than an hour with him explaining how and why we would do things differently and that we felt confident we could help him achieve a better outcome. In particular, we described how the fit of the device is the most important aspect of not only its comfort, but how the prosthetic limb integrates with the rest of his body to provide the utmost function and stability. These two attributes had been lacking in his previous prosthesis, preventing him from continuing his practice of martial arts.
Soon, we began working with this gentleman in our 2,500 square-foot office and lab located in Manhattan to better understand his distinctive physical attributes as well as to design a socket that uniquely fit his remaining stump. We did not rush through a preset process to achieve merely acceptable results. Rather, we took the time to provide a range of services—measurements, fitting, design, manufacture, help with insurance issues, and more—that allowed our deep understanding of the art and science of prostheses to achieve his desired outcome.
The results have been impressive. As the photos in our ad on this page demonstrate, we have been able to create a device that provides the stability via the socket design to allow this man to continue with martial arts.
His is but one story proving that our business and service philosophy—taking the time to treat our patients as individuals so we can best meet their needs—can provide the highest quality experience to our patients.
